Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Plant Breeding & Genetics
Introduction
The Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics offers B.Sc. (Hons) in Agriculture degree program under the umbrella of Faculty of Agriculture. Students are taught courses and research methodologies related to plant breeding ang genetics, entomology, soil science, horticulture, agronomy, water management, and agriculture economics. After completing this degree, students have gained fundamental knowledge in basic and applied agriculture in the first two years. In the last two years, students choose specialization field in the aforementioned subjects. During B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture in Plant Breeding, students have been taught courses and research methodologies related to crop improvement, cytology, cytogenetics, biometry, quantitative genetics, molecular genetics and tissue culture. After completing this degree, students have gained fundamental knowledge in Plant Breeding that can be applied to a range of crops including annual and perennial horticultural crops, agronomic food and feed crops and forestry products.
